Time for Purdey’s PAWS awards 2014!

Purdey cropIt’s January… the red carpet is being rolled out… I’ve got my manicurist on speed dial.    It can only mean one thing:  yes, it’s time for my PAWS awards!

For those of you who don’t already know, PAWS stands for ‘Purdey’s Awards for Worldwide Stardom’.   It’s a bit like the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes, except that it’s my own acting skills that are in the spotlight – oh, and those of my furry friends, Angel and Ponyo.    We’re known for our versatility, dedication and vocal range.   Well, Ponyo is known mostly for her fluffiness.

There have been some very illustrious winners of PAWS awards over the years.   Last year, the winner was… er, let’s see… myself, and in 2012… ah, yes, I won again.   Goodness me, I really am very talented.

This year, to make things more democratic, I think we’ll have a poll.    I will keep this open until I’m in the lead… 21st February, when the winner will be announced.    I don’t know if you’ll be allowed to vote more than once, so please consider the nominations very carefully, basing your choice on acting ability and artistic interpretation.  This year, I have got to say, we have pulled out every whisker to bring you the lowest budget productions.

Here, without further ado, are my nominations…

and the nominations from Ponyo and Angel…

Voting has now closed in Purdey’s PAWS Awards 2014 – but you can still view the poll below, and you can see all the media coverage of the Awards Ceremony here!

This is an exceptionally hard contest with so many excellent nominations and all players at the top of their game. However, for me it has to be Purdey in A Bridge Too Far. I echo the sentiments of the comment above – superb job on the agent front, Jo.

You are absolutely right, Lorna! All three are now A-list celebrities and Hollywood casting directors are going to be hard pushed to choose between them. 🙂 Thank you for your vote! Purdey insists on doing all her own stunts, and she likes her efforts to be recognised (usually they’re not treated with the right degree of admiration).

Nancy & Nipper like “the Spy who came in from the cold” that its such a wonderful expression, that only cats can achieve. Nancy and Nipper would just look pitiful, but then they are just dogs…….hope dogs can vote 🙂

All are wonderful, each shows a precious moment in a kitty’s life –funny, witty, stealthy and sweet. The spy’s glare is to die for. The fly is precious, the mockingbird and determination –all are equally adorable!. Very hard to vote for one, but if I must, the Spy’s eyes 🙂

So hard to decide!! So, so hard!
Purdey is definitely a true star.
Ponyo and Angel are a bit shy, they must be more confident(as Purdey is) so this year all the prizes go to Purdey! Ha, ha!
And, finally, my vote goes to…. The Spy Who Came in from the Cold!
    Congrats, Purdey!
    😀

😀 I’m glad that you found it difficult – it must mean their entries were really good! Purdey agrees with you that she is a true star, and she thanks you very much indeed for your vote! She is out at present partying (I am hoping not prematurely!) and I am sitting here waiting for her to come in so that I can go to bed!

Thank you, Padraig! I’m not sure how I will break the news to Ponyo, who has spent a lifetime in training for Psycho. Cute, fluffy, sweet, but with just a hint of insanity! Anyway, Purdey is now your best friend! PS I hope you also admired ‘Titanic’ – you can see the design and construction that went into the set.
