Colin has just finished this lovely little painting of a redpoll, inspired by the huge flocks of finches that we’ve had in our garden this winter. Lesser redpolls (Carduelis cabaret) are woodland birds but they often come to bird tables, especially if seed is available. They are widespread in Scotland, Wales, and northern and eastern England, but are less common further south. This is a male bird – the females are less colourful, although still with a small rosy ‘forelock’.
The redpoll painting has now been sold, but you can see more originals for sale on Colin’s website.
